Sis. Tammy Wise Death-Funeral

Sister Tammy Wise passed away on Wednesday March 15 after being placed on Hospice March 11. She deteriorated very fast and seemed to pass into heaven with a minimum of distress for which we are thankful. Some singers had sung some songs for her just before she died when it seemed she had slipped away into a coma. We will miss her but glad she doesn’t need to worry about cancer any more or anything else. She had both an outward and inward beauty that was a blessing to all those who knew her.

The visitation was on Friday night March 17 and there was a large crowd who came by to show their love and respect for Sis. Tammy, Brother Barry, and the rest of the family. A sad time indeed but God’s people always seem to rally together to support one another when the need arises.

The funeral was Saturday, March 18, 2017 and the sanctuary at the church was almost full to celebrate her life which was one of great love for the Lord and which she manifested in a special way. She was very strong in her faith as she fought the disease of cancer for so many years and was a great inspiration to others. Elder Jerry Wise and Elder Larry Wise officiated at the funeral. Brother Jerry Wise spoke about Sis Tammy being a replica of that virtuous woman that was of great price that Solomon wrote about in Proverbs 31. Elder Larry Wise spoke from Psalm 17:15 as David declared he would behold the face of the Lord in righteousness and would be satisfied when he awoke in the likeness of the Lord.

Two members of the family gave some serious and some funny memories of their interaction with Sis. Tammy over the years and was very emotional. The service was opened by her husband, Brother Barry Wise, as he shared how blessed he was to have Sister Tammy and be able to take care of her during her illness. A group of singer were blessed to sing some songs that spoke to the hearts of all those in attendance from “Nearer My God To Thee”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “I’ll be satisfied”, to “It is Well With My Soul”.

A meal was provided for the family and friends after the service and a large crowd enjoyed a meal and gave their final words of comfort to the family. We pray for Brother Barry and Sister Caleigh in the days ahead that God will give them strength and comfort as the memories of their time with Sister Tammy flood their soul.–March 19, 2017-Elder Larry Wise
