Christmas Singing

Note: You can find additional photos of the singing and fruit basket gathering  under Christmas Singing 2014 under the Christmas Singing Page.

Bethany was blessed with another good Christmas Singing on Sunday night December 14 with a good size congregation from various churches and friends. The youngsters that sang special songs and led songs were blessed to sing their songs, even though I am sure they were very nervous, and were enjoyed by all. Singing is a an important part of the regular worship service and at this special time of year we remember the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ in song and worship. This singing was not a regular worship service but I trust that we did worship him in song and our hearts made melody to the Lord. Concerning the youngsters, we refer to the wisdom of Solomon who said, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;” (Eccl. 12:1). Then concerning the older generation David told of their continued fruit bearing: “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;” (Psalm 92:13-14). The emphasis is always on the One that we sing about than any individual that sings and may it ever be so.

Thanks to all who did all the planning and hard work with the fruit baskets and helping the youngsters sing their songs as best they could. The Lord recognizes every small thing or great thing one does to serve the Lord. Paul said, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Heb. 6:10).

We wish every church member a blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year and may we remember that the greatest gift of all is Jesus Christ. “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (II Cor. 9:15)–December 16, 2014–Elder Larry Wise
