Thankful Deliverance

We are thankful that the Lord has delivered Brother Lamar Wise safely through corrective surgery today Oct. 4, 2011. It was believed he would have to stay overnight in the hospital but he was discharged the same day. He is sore but otherwise doing fairly well. We are also thankful that the Lord has delivered Sister Joyce Trentham to a better condition since she had major surgery Sept. 27, 2011. She had been in intensive care for several days but now she is in a rehab mode. Not only has the Lord delivered us from certain eternal death and separation from God through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ which paid our sin debt, but He also continues to deliver us every day, even in ways that we sometimes cannot see. When the Lord has blessed His children to be delivered from and through sickness, heartache, sorrow, etc., we should pause long enough to go to the throne of grace and thank the Lord for His gracious deliverance. The Lord is a past Deliverer, a present Deliverer, and a future Deliverer. “Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;” (II Cor. 1:10). Many sorrows encompassed the life of Job but he continued to trust in the Lord. “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” (Job 13:15). May we all do the same and trust in the Lord with all our heart as our great Deliverer and lean not unto our own understanding.–October 4, 2011–Elder Larry Wise
