Young Blessing

Bethany Primitive Baptist Church has been blessed for two straight Sundays with two young boys coming forward, professing faith in Christ, asking for a home in the church and desiring baptism. Jaylen Wise, age 7, came forth to the church on Sunday, July 17, desiring baptism and a home in the church. He was received joyfully by the church. He is the son of Shana and Josh Wise, and I know they are very thankful for their young son’s desire to be baptized and follow Christ. Sister Shana Wise is a member of Bethany along with Jaylen’s sister, Emma Kate Wise. We hope Josh will one day be a member. Jackson Wise, also age 7, came forward on Sunday, July 24, asking for a home in the church. He also was received with much rejoicing as he was extended the right hand of fellowship. Jackson is the son of Brother Jeremy and Sister Hillery Wise, who are both members of Bethany, and I know they rejoiced to see their young son follow the desire he had talked about for some time and join them and daughter, Katie, as members of Bethany. These young boys will be baptized, Lord willing, on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. It is always a delight and a blessing to see the Lord’s children, especially the young, have the courage to come forward and take up their cross and follow Christ. Solomon said we should remember the Lord, our Creator, in the days of our youth before the evil days (old age) come where we aren’t as able to serve as vibrantly as when we were young. (Eccl. 12:1) Jesus said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 19:14). The rich and poor, the young and old all come together in the church on the common ground of the love of God to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth. The old will pass from the scene at some point and time, and it is a blessing to see the young step forward ready to take their place in the church, and thus the church continues on.–July 27, 2011–Elder Larry Wise
