Bethany Church is saddened by the death of Sister Carolyn Whitehead who went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and related complications. She had been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes for several months. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 5, at Tutor Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS. at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10:00 a.m.
Pray for her immediate family of her husband, Brother Gerald Whitehead, her son, Mark Whitehead and daughter, Tracy Whitehead Meeks and also her extended family. She will be missed but her battle is over as David said of long ago as he longed to be delivered from his enemies, “And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.” (Psalm 55:6). The passing of a loved one is always a sorrowful time but to know that the departed is in the presence of the Lord is comforting to the bereaved family. Paul said, “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:” (Phil. 1:23. As the song says “It is better farther on.”–March 3, 2014–Elder Larry Wise
