New Church Member

Bethany Church rejoiced to have Anna Lauren Parrish come forward during the invitation at the conclusion of services on October 6, 2013 desiring baptism and a home with the church. She was graciously received and will be baptized, Lord willing, on October 20, 2013 at the conclusion of regular services. We are thankful for her willingness to follow Christ as she stated she loves the Lord and the church amid the shedding of tears. We know her parents, Lisa and Donald Parrish, are very thankful for her and her love for the Lord which is abundantly manifest by her act of faith. We pray the Lord will uphold her as she begins her Christian journey and will be strong in the Lord. She says she’s going to read the Bible every day which is something we all need to do. This is one of the weapons in the Christian armor that enables us to thwart the efforts of Satan to rob us of the joy of our salvation.

Remember one of our obligations as church members is to pray for one another as well as love one another. It is always comforting to know that someone loves you enough to lift you up before the throne of God’s grace and intercede for you. Moses held his hand up and the children of Israel were victorious, but his hands became tired and began to fall with diminished victory for Israel. Aaron and Hur held his hands up in this weakened condition and the Israelites were victorious again. We encourage Sister Anna and all other members to always look to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith. Remember what Paul taught us about encouraging and exhorting one another. “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Heb. 10:24-25).

Pray that more of those who attend Bethany and have been convicted by the Holy Spirit will follow the pattern of this sister and others who preceded her by coming forward and asking for a home in the church, desiring baptism. They will be abundantly welcomed into this church family. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.–October 6, 2013–Elder Larry Wise
