MODERN TIMES by Elder David Montgomery 8-03-2016
If you are a practicing and dutiful Christian, do not think it strange when the world thinks you’re strange. Atheism and paganism is now more popular and Christianity is vilified as intolerant, racist and sexist. This is not new for it has happened before in history. This should not be surprising for the Bible told us this would be so. Make no mistake my friends; this vile world has never been a friend to grace. Do not be naïve. Do not be stupid. Moreover, do not give up. We sing a song that has a great wisdom and we would do well to take heed:
“Keep us lowly and unknown;
Prized and loved of thee alone.â€
The above line presents an important truth. We do not need to be in politics. We don’t need to be the center of the world’s attention. Let us who believe be good, kind and charitable people. Let us go to our church meetings and be thankful for the religious freedom we still have. Let us remember blessed Jesus and don’t forget to pray. Let the world makes its clamorous noise while we make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Heaven is where we need to be heard.
(Modern times are not always the best times. Prosperity has been known to be a detriment to people of god serving the Lord. Jesus didn’t come with pomp and splendor but as the LOWLY Lamb of God. He never attracted attention to himself but was committed to Him that judgeth righteously. May God give us grace to remain steadfast in spite of what the general consensus might be. Remember God is the ultimate and supreme authority on what is right and wrong. Think on these things and pray for God’s providential deliverance.–Larry Wise-August 3, 2016)
